Amazon Basics Electrical Tape

Electrical tape appeared in more than one stage of my roof-wiring work. I wrapped a group of light-wire connections and also recorded using tape around the roof opening before fitting edge trim in a later session.

Why I bought it

The roof project included preparing the van entry as well as bringing several light leads together. Electrical tape was among the consumables in my materials for that work.

The diary records the tape at specific points in the assembly. Those small actions can be easy to miss in a wider photograph of the boxes and conduit.

How I used it in my camper van

After cutting the large roof and junction-box opening, I applied primer and white paint around the hole and placed electrical tape around the metal edge. In a later session I fitted plastic trim around the roof opening.

I also joined three light wires with connectors and wrapped the connection group in electrical tape. The photograph shows the wire bundle and tape within the wiring assembly.

My review

The tape’s use in my build was tied to particular finishing and wrapping steps. It was one supply alongside cable glands, connectors, tubing and the later edge trim.

Keeping the sequence visible explains the photos: an earlier entry-preparation step, then later trim work, plus a separate group of wrapped wire connections. The finished route came together across several sessions.

The diary sequence distinguishes the early taped opening from the later plastic edge trim.

Alternative products

Two alternatives to compare

Scotch Super 33+ and Super 88 are black vinyl electrical tapes. Super 88 uses a thicker backing, so the two options offer different tape builds within the same product family. Backing thickness and handling distinguish these alternatives for wrapping work.

Scotch Super 33+ Electrical Tape

This black vinyl electrical tape comes on a roll for cutting and wrapping. Its conformable backing provides another material format for electrical taping tasks.
