Keep Your Working Copy With Its Evidence

Open a CSV in spreadsheet software and save your own named copy. Record units with measurements and keep actual quotes or receipts beside cost entries. The cost resource explains that its blank worksheet does not calculate totals for you.

Use the model or drawing revision to identify which arrangement a row describes. When a choice changes, keep the earlier reason in the decision log and recheck any affected access or measurement observations. Leave unresolved values marked as needing a check.

For equipment used in the original project, continue to tools and materials by build project below. For the drawing workflow, read the SketchUp Camper Van Layout Guide.

Worksheet directory updated October 22, 2026. All six download files are available; the original five files are unchanged.

SketchUp For Van Layout Planning

Use SketchUp to compare the space occupied by your bed, cabinets and storage before refining the appearance of a layout. Start with measurements from your own van. The resources below connect the modeling tools with the CVF planning guide and the dated Project Freedom example.

Start Here

  1. Choose Your Modeling Route: For a browser workflow, begin with Getting Started With SketchUp For Web. Check its account, browser and hardware requirements before beginning. SketchUp for Web uses a Trimble ID. SketchUp Free runs in a browser and is not for commercial use; read the official Free plan details before choosing it for your work.
  2. Connect The Tools To Your Layout: Follow the SketchUp Camper Van Layout Guide with your measurement worksheet beside you. Its blockout and grouping steps explain how to keep the main fixtures separate. Use its finish-thickness checks before treating bare cargo dimensions as finished living space.
  3. Explore A Dated Example: Visit the Project Freedom Van Layout Model page to see the design dated March 28, 2024 and its connection to the build diary. Treat that design as project history rather than a verified template for another vehicle or a complete record of the finished build.

Match The Lesson To Your Version

The existing SketchUp Fundamentals course link redirects to a Desktop Classic course page. If you are using Web, use the Web documentation for its menus and available features instead of expecting every desktop instruction to match.

SketchUp's current Web feature comparison distinguishes free and subscription features. It lists extensions as unavailable in Web. Check the version and plan used by a lesson before buying software or choosing a workflow that depends on a particular feature.

Keep A Clear File Workflow

Read the Web file-management guide for opening, saving and downloading models and for plan-specific import and export options. Check the file format you actually need rather than assuming that every format or desktop workflow is available in your plan.

Keep an unchanged starting file and identify your working layout revisions. Use the same measured vehicle geometry when comparing arrangements, and record unresolved dimensions in the existing worksheet. Detailed modeling and layout checks belong in the linked guide; the Transit model pages below are starting points to inspect, not evidence that a model matches your van.
