This reference concerns load support for a loaded van. Start by writing down the problem you are trying to resolve: the observed vehicle condition, the load being carried and the outcome you want. Keep that record separate from the product name so you can assess whether the proposed equipment addresses the actual question.

Air Lift’s LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate supports a loaded vehicle and helps maintain ride height. It is not a suspension lift kit, and it does not increase the vehicle’s payload or weight ratings.

My Experience With Air Lift On My Extended Ford Transit

Why I installed the air springs

I installed the Air Lift 57213 LoadLifter 5000 kit and WirelessOne EZ Mount compressor on my Ford Transit 250 Extended because the rear of the van was bottoming out on roads and off-road tracks. The very back sits low, and I wanted to bring it up to reduce those impacts, particularly when crossing uneven ground.

Why I bought the WirelessOne compressor

The WirelessOne compressor lets me adjust the air-spring pressure from inside the van. Without it, I would have to get out and manually inflate the springs using an external air supply.

For me, the compressor was an expensive convenience item. It made adjustment easier, but it added another substantial installation job alongside the air springs.

Installation took about 15 hours

Installing both parts took approximately 15 hours across two demanding days of work. I worked underneath the van without a lift, lying on my back.

The air springs took a full day to mount and tighten. Space around the axle was limited, making it difficult to position a regular wrench or get enough room to use a torque wrench.

The compressor installation took another full day. Drilling the mounting holes underneath the van and securing the compressor were particularly awkward. Neither part of this project was a quick installation for me.

The van bottomed out less, but the problem remained

Once the system was working, I noticed that the rear bottomed out less often. It still happened, especially when crossing ditches or holes off-road.

That was a useful improvement, but it did not eliminate the clearance problem I was trying to address with my extended Transit.

Current condition: an unresolved air-line leak

There is currently a fast air leak somewhere in the line. The system does not hold air properly, and the air springs are unusable in their present condition.

I still need to locate and repair that leak. My experience therefore includes both the reduction in bottoming out when the system worked and the maintenance problem that has since stopped me from using it.

Make a vehicle-specific fitment record

Record the vehicle year, exact model, rear-wheel configuration and any existing suspension changes. Keep the manufacturer's vehicle-selection result and the matching manual with the exact part number you are considering. A product-family name or a photograph is not enough to resolve those details.

For a conversion in progress, describe the configuration represented by your observations: which major items are installed, what cargo is present and which planned additions are still absent. This gives the supplier or installer a clear account of the condition being discussed without treating an unfinished build as its final operating configuration.

Questions to resolve before ordering

  • Does the exact kit match the vehicle and its existing modifications?
  • Which installation document applies to the selected part?
  • What equipment and follow-up checks does the supplier or installer include?
  • What remains unresolved about the original load-support question?

Record the answers and their sources in the van build decision log. Use the cost worksheet to keep the quoted scope, related equipment and installation work together. This page records a product reference.
