This page links to the archived Ford workshop reference for the front overhead console. It is a useful document to locate when planning work near the cab headliner, overhead storage or nearby conversion trim.

Identify the console reference

The PDF is headed 2023 Transit, section 501-12, Instrument Panel and Console. It is titled Overhead Console, with a procedure revision of November 24, 2021. The source notes that the high roof is shown and the low roof is similar. That note describes the illustration's scope; compare your actual console and vehicle equipment with the reference.

What the PDF contains

The short reference places the removal and installation text on page 1. It includes an illustration, refers to the console's retaining clips and electrical connectors, and describes installation by reference to the removal procedure. Page 2 carries the continuation footer rather than a separate illustrated headliner procedure.

This is a console reference. It does not provide a complete conversion wiring plan or instructions for removing every headliner panel, overhead shelf or aftermarket fitting around it. Keep those separate jobs distinct when collecting the documents for your project.

Plan the surrounding work

Before scheduling the job, make a simple access sketch showing the console, the nearby headliner edge and anything your conversion adds in that area. Record the roof configuration and the equipment visible in your vehicle. Save photos of the current arrangement so that later planning does not depend on memory.

Use the sketch to identify dependencies: which trim work needs console access, which proposed fittings occupy the same space, and which questions require vehicle-specific information. If the conversion already has added wiring or accessories nearby, record who installed them and where their documentation is kept.

Keep the reference with the decision

Open the PDF above for the original illustration and procedure. In your van build decision log, link this reference to the particular access question you are resolving and record any remaining information needed. Keep broader installation sequencing with your build cost record, so the console document remains easy to find when that stage arrives.
