Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner

Dust, dirt, paint and bed-liner residue had accumulated while I worked in the desert. Simple Green was part of cleaning the cargo area before the next interior stage.

Why I bought it

The cargo area needed substantial cleanup before sound-deadening preparation could move forward. My floor and walls had collected residue over the course of the build, including dust and dirt from working in the desert.

I included Simple Green in the cleaning supplies alongside a broom, mop, towels and powered brush attachments. Each had a different role in removing loose dirt or working over the remaining residue.

How I used it in my camper van

I swept the floor and used a mop with floor cleaner. On the walls I used a towel and Simple Green. For stubborn material on the floor I moved to a drill-mounted wire brush, then a nylon brush for remaining dirt, and finished with a dry towel.

I also used Simple Green later to clean metal edges around the driver capsule before primer and paint. That was another preparation task, separate from the cargo-area cleanup.

My review

Simple Green earned its place in this list through ordinary preparation work: wiping down walls and cleaning metal edges before the next step. It was one supply within a longer cleaning process.

The important point from my build is that one wipe-down did not complete the whole cargo area. I used sweeping, mopping, powered brushing and drying as well. The cleaner belonged to that sequence rather than replacing all the other cleanup tools.

The cleaner was part of a sequence that also needed mechanical scrubbing and drying.

Two alternatives to compare

Krud Kutter Original is another broad cleaner and degreaser. Goo Gone targets the narrower job of adhesive residue, such as leftover tape or labels. These represent two different cleanup needs: general dirt and grease versus a specific sticky residue.

This concentrated cleaner and degreaser targets grease, oil and other residue on washable surfaces. Its dilutable formula offers another general cleanup option for a workshop or cargo area.

Questions from my build

Where did I use Simple Green?

I used it with a towel on the cargo walls and later on metal edges around the driver capsule before primer and paint.

Did cleaner alone complete my floor preparation?

The floor work also included sweeping, mopping, wire brushing, nylon brushing and a final dry-towel pass.
