The item in my kit

I bought dkplnt 12V-to-5V Converter as part of my camper van equipment.

I bought the dkplnt converter with the low-voltage electronics equipment. My roof-wiring diary records bringing cable groups through the entry point and completing their connections.

Where it fits my build

On Day 104 I pulled the roof wiring through the PVC route with fish tape and brought the cable groups into the van. I fitted plastic trim around the roof opening where the wires passed through.

I also finished the remaining light-wire connections, fitted the junction-box covers, joined the remaining PVC sections and tightened the metal ties around the route.

My build notes

This stage pulled together several earlier sessions of drilling boxes, fitting glands and arranging the roof hardware. The final cable entry was the point where all those separate roof routes met.

My notes show how much of the work was physical organization: pulling cables, keeping entry points accessible and closing boxes after the connections were finished.

The route into the van was a layout problem as much as a wiring task.

Alternative products

Two alternatives to compare

The fixed-output DROK supplies five volts at a lower three-amp rating. The adjustable DROK uses a different enclosure and output-control arrangement, with its voltage setting and current rating changing the design of the supply.

DROK Fixed 5V Converter

DROK Fixed 5V Converter

This enclosed converter steps a DC supply down to a fixed five-volt output. Its three-amp output rating identifies a smaller supply than the ten-amp dkplnt unit.

DROK Adjustable DC Converter

DROK Adjustable DC Converter

This enclosed DC converter provides an adjustable output voltage rather than a fixed five-volt supply. Its controls and USB Type-C port give the module a different connection layout from a simple wired converter.

Questions from my build

How did I pull the roof wiring through?

My Day 104 notes record using fish tape to pull wires through the PVC route.

What do the photographs show?

They show the trimmed roof entry and the roof hardware at the end of that wiring session.
