Why I bought it

maXpeedingrods Under-Seat Diesel Heater appears in my build materials and equipment for this work.

I installed the heater beneath the front passenger seat and built a black cover to point its interior vent into the cargo area. The mounting, pipe routing and cover fabrication took several diary sessions.

How I used it in my camper van

I removed the passenger seat, marked and cut the floor opening, and drilled mounting holes. After sanding the edges, I applied primer and white paint around the opening before fitting the heater and its connected tubes.

The next stages included mounting the intake, exhaust, fuel filter and pump beneath the van. I then built the black cover with triangular side panels so the interior vent faced toward the cargo area, and continued the fuel-pump wire routing through a factory floor opening.

My review

The custom cover was a significant part of making the installation fit the seat platform. Its sloping back would have directed the vent downward, so I made a separate face for the vent. The panel looked good to me, although an awkward screw position left a hole needing a larger washer.

The heater installation included the mounting, connections and a custom interior cover as separate pieces of work.

Alternative products

Two alternatives to compare

The VEVOR and LF Bros alternatives use all-in-one enclosures with their own tank arrangements. That packaging is different from my under-seat layout with a separately fabricated vent cover.

VEVOR All-in-One Diesel Heater

VEVOR All-in-One Diesel Heater

This diesel heater uses a box-style enclosure with a carrying handle. Its kit includes a controller and ducting for the heater arrangement.
