Two of my four ramps were destroyed when I tried to drive onto them. They had already started cracking, and I recorded that I did not recommend buying them.
The underbody work area from my heater project, where access was tight.
Why I bought it
Underbody access became a major part of the heater project. I had hoses, a filter and a pump to mount underneath the van, with limited room to work.
The RhinoRamps MAX were part of the equipment I had for creating access. My experience with them became one of the clearest negative product notes in the build.
How I used it in my camper van
When I attempted to drive onto the ramps, two of the four were destroyed. I had noticed cracking beforehand. The broken ramps caught underneath the van, and I drove around the parking lot to shake them loose.
The underbody work continued with the front wheels raised on the remaining two. I described that day as physically exhausting, with much of the time spent working in a confined space underneath the van.
My review
I do not recommend buying these ramps. That was my stated conclusion after the cracking and breakage, and it remains the point of this page.
I also hoped to get replacements because they had been expensive. The combination of prior cracking, two destroyed ramps and the effort to free them from underneath the van made this a poor experience in my build.
My review is negative because cracking was followed by the destruction of two ramps.
Alternative products
Two alternatives to compare
Nilight offers another molded vehicle-service ramp design. Race Ramps RR-56 uses solid high-density foam and a long approach. Construction, approach geometry and vehicle-service specifications provide useful comparison points alongside the cracking and breakage I experienced with my RhinoRamps.
Nilight Vehicle Service Ramps
These portable vehicle service ramps provide raised wheel platforms for underbody access. Their molded ramp form offers another product to compare for garage service work.
These single-piece vehicle service ramps use solid high-density foam construction. Their long approach and wheel platforms offer a different construction from molded nesting ramps.
