I used spray adhesive while lining the storage-bin drawer with rubber matting. Cleaning the wood, spraying in sections and using a roller were all part of that job.
The rubber-lined drawer after the adhesive and fastening work.
Why I bought it
The storage drawer needed a lining cut to its own base and side dimensions. I included 3M Hi-Strength 90 in the materials for attaching that rubber matting to the wood.
This was a broad-area bonding task inside the drawer assembly. The adhesive fitted into the lining process after measuring and cutting, with screws and washers used as additional attachment points.
How I used it in my camper van
I cleaned the wood with cleaner and degreaser before spraying the adhesive. I applied it in sections and used a roller to help press the mat against the wood.
The lining work continued around the sides with shorter cuts of matting. I then drilled and fastened the rubber to the frame and base with screws and flat washers. The assembled drawer shows the adhesive work as one stage of a larger attachment process.
My lining also used screws and flat washers as attachment points.
My review
My experience with the spray adhesive was tied to preparation and sequencing. I cleaned first, worked section by section, and rolled the mat down as I went.
I also used mechanical fasteners in the finished lining. The useful takeaway from my build is that the adhesive stage and the screw-and-washer stage both belonged in the work sequence; the finished drawer combined them.
Cleaning and working in sections were part of how I applied the adhesive to the drawer lining.
Alternative products
Two alternatives to compare
Gorilla Heavy Duty Spray Adhesive provides a repositionable spray-bonding option. 3M Super 77 is another multipurpose aerosol adhesive. These are alternative formulations to compare by the materials being joined and the application process, alongside the section-by-section approach I used with Hi-Strength 90.
Gorilla Heavy Duty Spray Adhesive
This multipurpose spray adhesive applies a clear bonding layer over broad surfaces. It allows repositioning during application before forming a permanent bond.
This multipurpose aerosol adhesive bonds materials such as fabric, paper, wood and metal. Its spray application covers broad areas during lining and fabrication work.
