Sweeping the cargo area was the first step in my floor-preparation session. Dust and debris had accumulated while I was repeatedly loading the tools and driving out to work on the van.
The cargo floor during my preparation work, from my original build footage.
Why I bought it
The cargo floor and walls needed a full cleanup before the next material stage. My notes describe dirt, paint, bedliner and other residue from working in and around the van.
The heavy-duty broom was included in the tools for that cleanup. Sweeping removed loose material before I moved on to the mop, cleaner and powered brushes.
How I used it in my camper van
I swept out the cargo area, then used a mop and floor-cleaner spray on the floor. I cleaned the walls with a towel and Simple Green.
I followed with wire-brush and nylon-brush drill attachments for the remaining stuck-on material and grime. I dried the floor with a towel at the end of the sequence. The still from my build footage shows the cargo floor during this preparation work.
My review
The broom had the first job in a cleanup that needed several tools. Loose debris, stuck-on residue and the final drying were separate parts of the work.
This was a useful pause in the conversion to deal with the accumulated mess from earlier projects. Recording the sequence explains why a simple broom belongs in the kit alongside the power tools.
Sweeping was the opening step in a longer cleanup, followed by washing, brushing and drying.

The O-Cedar combines an angled broom with a step-on dustpan. The Quickie uses a wide 24-inch push-broom head. The angled-head and broad push-head formats offer different shapes for sweeping corners and open floor areas.
O-Cedar Broom and Step-On Dustpan
This broom set combines an angled bristle head with a step-on dustpan. The two-piece cleaning arrangement collects swept debris at the floor.
This push broom uses a wide rectangular bristle head and a long handle. Its 24-inch sweeping width provides another format for moving loose debris across a floor.
