I cut and drilled flat aluminum plates to raise the small LED lights above the extrusion. The diary records using two plates per light in that part of the roof project.

Why I bought it
The small LED lights needed their mounting position arranged above the added extrusion. Flat aluminum stock gave me material for the custom plates used at those lights.
This was another small fabrication task within the larger roof project. The plates worked with the extrusion, mounting hardware and light brackets rather than being a stand-alone assembly.
How I used it in my camper van
I cut the flat plates to size and drilled their mounting holes. The original steps describe two plates per light to lift the small LED lights into the intended position.
I fitted two lights on the passenger-side extrusion during that session. Later camera-mount work also involved making small flat and angled bracket pieces around the equipment and its mounting holes.

My review
The useful role of flat stock in my build was being able to make the plate shape and hole arrangement around the light position. The photo shows the light with its custom mounting pieces below it.
This kind of work required more than choosing a piece of metal. Measuring, drilling and fitting the plates were part of getting the light into position, alongside the bolts and extrusion hardware.
I used two custom plates per light to arrange the height above the extrusion.
