The item in my kit

My camper-van purchases included both CRL VW1033L and VW1033R bunk windows. I have brought the driver-side and passenger-side purchases together on this page.

The VW1033L and VW1033R are the driver-side and passenger-side versions of CRL's long half-slider. Their low profile gives them a different shape from the taller RV window shown among the alternatives.

Where it fits my build

My Day 87 plan put the body openings ahead of the aluminum framing, flooring and wall panels. I specifically included the shower drain and the openings for three water tanks in that order of work.

I removed cargo tie-down hardware to leave mounting points for the extrusion framing, and removed door trim for the later insulation and paneling. SketchUp helped me plan how those separate jobs would fit together.

My build notes

The useful reference from my diary is the order of work. I wanted openings and mounting access addressed while the cargo area was still bare, before framing and finished panels made those areas harder to reach.

For these window purchases, I have kept the two side-specific part numbers together. The comparison below focuses on opening style and window shape, which are concrete layout differences between the original pair and the alternatives.

I planned the openings and mounting access before enclosing the interior.

Alternative products

Two alternatives to compare

The CRL windows use a long half-slider format, listed at 33-7/8 by 10-7/8 inches. The OUTPRIZE option is a fixed 33-by-10-inch window, while the RecPro is a taller 24-by-15-inch sliding design; opening style and shape are the main differences for planning a wall layout.
