Use The Folding-Bed References As A Layout Study

The original notes collect a manufacturer reference, possible hardware links and six images for a folding-bed idea. They explore how bed sections might move out of the way.

The notes include guesses about hinges, gas struts and mattress handling. Preserve those as questions to resolve.

Possible RV-bed gas-strut reference - Possible Gas Struts

Appears like I can use regular door hinges from VanDoIt pictures.

Can probably secure mattresses to panels with tie downs so I can hold the bridges up and down without having to move the bed or bedding. Looks like they just cut a foam mattress in half. You can do this with a saw.

Make A Reference Record For The Features You Want

Identify the image and the visible feature that interests you: the divided sleeping surface, the direction a panel moves or the space available when it is folded. This prevents an appealing layout from becoming an assumed hardware specification.

  • Record the exact profile and panel choices once selected.
  • Keep hinge, lift-assist, support and retention requirements as distinct design decisions.
  • Account for the intended mattress and bedding in both open and folded layouts.
  • Mark the access needed to operate, inspect and service the completed assembly.

Use the actual hinge, mattress and strut information to develop the assembly design.
