I used my miter saw to cut the extrusion and small aluminum mounts for the roof light bar. The job combined one long rack piece with several short connecting brackets.
My DEWALT miter saw and stand during the light-bar mounting work.
Why I bought it
The light bar needed an added length of 2020 extrusion above the existing roof rack. I used the miter saw during the fabrication stage, before taking the pieces through drilling and assembly.
The DWS715 was listed with my tools for that work. My photographs show the DEWALT saw on its stand beside the parts being prepared.
How I used it in my camper van
I cut the added extrusion to 58 inches and cut three short aluminum mounting pieces to 1.75 inches each. I then drilled two holes in each mount, one inch apart, to join the added extrusion to the rack.
The resulting assembly used different hardware on the two extrusion profiles: quarter-inch hardware at the rack and M5 bolts at the 2020 extrusion. Cutting the pieces was the start of that fitting process.

My review
The saw’s role in this job was preparing the long piece and repeated short bracket blanks. Those pieces then moved to drilling and fitting, so the saw belonged at the beginning of the fabrication sequence.
The finished light-bar mount also involved T-nut positioning and bolt assembly. The photos make that division of work clear: cut stock at the saw, small drilled connectors at the rack, and the light bar above them.
The long extrusion and short bracket blanks were separate cuts within the same mounting job.
Alternative products
Two alternatives to compare
The Metabo HPT uses a sliding mechanism and dual-bevel adjustment, while the Bosch uses an articulated glide mechanism. Both differ from the single-bevel compound format of my DWS715. Travel mechanism, bevel adjustment and workbench layout are the main distinctions between these saw designs.
Metabo HPT C12RSH3 Miter Saw
This 12-inch miter saw combines a sliding mechanism with dual-bevel adjustment. Its shadow-line system provides a visual reference for positioning a cut.
This 12-inch miter saw uses an articulated glide mechanism for its cutting travel. Its dual-bevel adjustment provides another saw arrangement for crosscut and angled-cut work.
